My wife, however, never knew of this special’s existence until this summer, when I had to explain the premise of the future Guardians Holiday Special. She insisted that we see the thing, and after spending a second contemplating divorce (joke!), found the RiffTrax version. It still sucks, but misery loves company!
While listening to the Freak Show podcast, I did have a thought. I’m now waiting for that Deep-Fake effects genius, whoever they may be, to find a Bea Arthur sound-alike, and redo that bar musical number, replacing the original song with Closing Time, by Semisonic. The song could almost be the anthem for that Stories from Mos Eisley book:
So, gather up your jackets, move it to the exits
I hope you have found a friend
Closing time, every new beginning
Comes from some other beginning's end, yeah…
That could almost describe Star Wars itself, since it’ll never bloody end!
Anyway, I enjoyed the show as always, and I wish Happy Times and Happy Places to everyone within the range of this missive’
